Abstract
|
|
|
Thrombasthenia is the Platelet abnormality found in a small group of patients with a congonital bleeding disorder abssociated with impaired or absent clot retraction and a failure of the platclets to aggregate with most agents.
In these patients., the bleeding time is prolonged and the platelet failed to aggregate during coagulation or after addition of ADP.
This disorder was described by Glanzmann in 1918. in a heterogenous group of patients with a bleeding disorder characterized by abscent or markedly reduced clot retraction.
The precise nature of the platelet abnormality is obscure; Varies defects have been reported.
We have experieced a case of thrombasthenid in 5 year 3 month old boy who was admitted because of persistent nasal bleeding and gum bleeding, also made brief review of the related literature.
